Going walkabout on 16/5/2025.

On Friday and Saturday we opened our garden under the National Gardens Scheme. I wanted to do a snapshot of how it looked for our visitors so I attempted to walk most of the paths in the garden in both directions, filming as I went, but to do so in one continuous take. It’s a bit shaky here and there and I haven’t mastered sharp changes of direction with a gimbal but I think it gives a clearer idea of how it looked than edited highlights do.

I haven’t added a commentary, though the flock of jackdaws overhead did their best to provide one, and I haven’t added any captions. I have labels on quite a lot of plants as my memory often lets me down but you can’t see them in the video. Like our visitors, if you want to know what something is, you’ll have to ask me; note the time and I’ll let you know.

  1. I really enjoyed this, there is such a variety of leaf colour and form which creates a lot of interest. That’s a lot of pots to keep watered, I wouldn’t have the patience!

  2. Wow! Your garden seems much bigger than I thought, all those paths meandering through extensive planting and so many pots too. How on earth do you maintain it so well, and have an allotment? A lovely walk through your garden Jim.
