We are opening our garden on eight days this summer under the NGS, in four sets of two consecutive days. Our latest was the 3rd and 4th of July and this video is for those of you who were unable to make it.
Unlike my video of our last opening I have put a partial commentary on this one and have captioned some of the plants. Both serve to highlight how much we have crammed into our smallish space, leaving so much unsaid and so many plants unidentified. Inevitably the things you want a name for will have been missed out but feel free to post questions in the comments.
Absolutely fabulous, I’m in awe of your garden with its amazing collection of plants. I’m going to have another wander round later.

That space may be small, but it contains more variety than several acres here!

Fantastic garden tour ! I can see why you never have trouble finding 6 things every weekend… The fact that you made a video allows us to get a sense of the garden and the size. The greenhouse with your wife’s cacti is so pretty. There are so many rare plants and a very large collection of begonias. (Having removed all the lawn and planting everywhere is a solution: no lawnmower , and relatively little weeding to do, all things considered?! )

I have seen so many of our visitors trying to process the idea of a garden with no lawn. Not having had one for so long, it seems very normal to me but it is clearly a big deal for most people. I love the “relatively little weeding to do, all things considered”. Our visitors often comment about seeing no weeds, as if we were lucky not to have them, rather than being due credit for pulling them all up. A little every day is my approach. They never seem to run out.
